Volkswagen of America is recalling some 2009 Audi Q5 models. The company said A-Pillar trim cover clips may not have been manufactured correctly and could come loose if the sideguard head protection airbags deploy.
A loose trim piece could injure front seat occupants.
Dealers will inspect the clip and replace it free of charge when the recall begins in January 2010.
Owners may contact Audi at 1-800-253-2834.
Consumers may contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY: 1-800-424-9153) or at www.safercar.gov.
